USB HiFi and Hi-Res Audio |
So that you can finally give your DAC a proper feeding, we now have on offer complete Linux/MPD configured USB Audio Music Servers from our testing stock.
Various tests with the most diverse hard- and software has quickly shown that the combination Linux/Bitperfect MPD on Intel-Atom-based systems brings the best-sounding results - this in addition to low power consumption, no fan, (thus practically no noise) and all of this resulting in excellent stability!
Our favorite on the hardware side is clearly Intel's Atom based motherboards, combined with hard drives from Western Digital or SSDs. Together with nice Mini-ITX-Cases, which have a good voltage converter and fanless power supplies, they provide the ideal starting point for a Linux-based USB Audio Server.
Operation is completely without monitor and keyboard.
Setting up the USB Hifi Music Server is very easy:

Buyer Feedback: I received the server. It took me few minutes to read online what MPD client to use and I chose Cantata. I carefully compared the sound of Mac mini and MPD/Linux. I was sceptical before the try. Now I can definitely tell that your server sounds more deep and wide, much clearer in certain frequencies, more pure. Even my wife, who is an ordinary listener heard the difference immediately and liked the server. Also the software and hardware are very fast and silent. Almost immediate playback and response. The only thing I miss is a nice MPD client for mac. Still I would like to have the interface of audirvana or roon. I have tried several clients, most of them have outdated design and limited features. Cantata is somehow acceptable. On my iphone i use MPDluxe. HMI of this app is still behind Roonlabs or Jriver. I think the only negative point for me is the lack of modern mpd clients. but with the sound I am very happy. thank you again. |

Buyer Feedback: I am thrilled with this audio server. Connecting it to the home network and to the tablet via an app was "appallingly" hassle-free. For what it achieves, the server looks remarkably modest. The high-quality ITX case with the small dimensions makes it almost disappear. All the more impressive is its performance. For several days now this tiny machine superbly does exactly what it should: it plays music - at its finest! No matter what genre - the sound is impressively neutral and closed, the space fascinatingly realistic. And yet details remain clearly audible. This server clearly demonstrates that a well-designed concept does by no means have to be expensive. Thank you so much for your work. Apart from that, I quickly got used to the operation of the app. It’s a blessing - now I can listen to music without having to power up my computer. And that’s nothing said about the sound level yet! |
This Machine is an absolutely Must Have - with a beautiful black metal case, it integrates seamlessly into the high-end audio system. | |

Buyer Feedback: The difference between my laptop (very high-quality) with JRiver and your server with MPD is enormous! Over the entire frequency bandwidth there simply is a lot more information or, in other words, the filters are gone, and that's great!! Imagine it like this: with this server, you have not only one single sound carpet, but you are able to better differentiate and localize the individual instruments (spatial reproduction). By removing the filters (at least I think it’s the filters in JRiver) the trebles are a crystal clear presence. Finally I could set my loudspeakers to neutral, instead of boosting the trebles, like before. Of course, those of you with audio equipment which already boosts the trebles anyway might want to test this first. A strong recommendation to buy from my side!! |

Buyer Feedback: Overall, I discovered definite perceptible improvements . On all three levels (high/mid/bass), I experienced more power and punch For comparison I’ll use an example from the past: Years ago, I exchanged a string of Christmas tree lights for ones that ran on batteries. The new candles glowed more strongly and consequently revealed a clearer view into the deeper branchings of the tree. And that’s what happened with this server as well. Somehow, one has the feeling that nuances of sound that previously were distinguishable but also subtly remained in the background now appeared stronger in the foreground, as if the sounds were competing to push their way to center stage. Bell tones or guitar strings sound somewhat clearer in the treble, almost cutting but not drifting into brittleness (at least for me). The mids give the voices a hint of a sharper resolution – Vibrations and breathing are now a lot more fun. The bass hits with a dry punch – and how! Overall, I have to say that in comparison the notebook seems rather a lame duck, or put another way, a lot less confident than the server. I can only recommend this server. |

Buyer Feedback: Everything worked out great. The music server is running smoothly, and the same goes for controlling it with the tablet. Great! I’m still keeping the server, because I’m using it as a server for the Auralic. And that in turn sounds better than a NAS with many other services running concurrently. .. Wow! I can only say that you have got to hear this for yourself! It’s like listening to a live performance. |

Buyer Feedback: The computer arrived with everything intact. I connected it and it runs without a problem. I’m again using the MPoD for control and everything works like a charm. The previously stored collection of music files play back faultlessly and in the highest quality. I am impressed by how much the bit-accurate playback with this system on the DAC improves the perceived audio quality. Playback is fast and dynamic and at the same time in the important midrange free and detached and very authentic. I own large horn speakers ( made by Hornfabrik Eder). Their qualities now finally come into their own! Great fun! |
